Rekha Maker is a design business which focuses on the casting process. Using a liquid ‘eco-concrete’ called Jesmonite, Rekha and her assistant Heather (along with Grayson the whippet) pour into handmade moulds to create striking architectural homewares in small batches. Through the casting process, Rekha seeks to create high quality, unique pieces which can stand on their own as objects, even when they are not fulfilling their function - ‘sculptural architecture for the home’. In a world where mass-produced homeware is ubiquitous, the team are trying to mitigate throwaway culture, through the love and care that has been put into making each piece and ensuring sustainability is at the core of all they do.
